ELSA trifft den Commissioner for Human Rights des Europarats

Am 28. September 2009 konnten Vertreter von ELSA-International, ELSA-Deutschland e.V. und ELSA-Belgien den Commissioner for Human Rights des Europarats interviewen

On 28th of September the President of ELSA Germany, Barbara Sandfuchs, the VP S&C of ELSA Germany, Marje Mülder and the Director for Human Rights and Delegations of ELSA Germany, Jennifer Geng, together with five members of the International Board of ELSA and representatives of ELSA Belgium visited Strasbourg and the Council of Europe where they interviewed the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Thomas Hammarberg.

 

 

The ELSA representatives met Mr. Thomas Hammarberg. The Commissioner is an independent institution within the Council of Europe, mandated to promote the awareness of and respect for Human Rights in the 47 Council of Europe member states. The representatives had the chance to ask questions concerning the general work of the Commissioner and various other topics. In special, they learned about the great importance of NGOs within the Commissioner's work. In total, all representatives were impressed by the personality of Mr. Thomas Hammarberg and the very kind and friendly invitation.
