What are the main advantages in comparison to other programmes than STEP?

In general STEP-traineeships are paid. The salary will usually be as high as the average local living costs, so that you need not to cope with financing.
Moreover you will get personal assistance up from the application until the end of the traineeship itself. Questions referring to the application will be answered unhesitatingly by your local  STEPer. Once abroad you will be warmly welcomed by the STEPer of the local ELSA-group offering the traineeship. He will support you to find a feasable accomodation, will invite you to local ELSA-Events etc., in order to make you feel comfortable and integrated.

What are the conditions for taking part?

Referring to a decision of the International Council Meeting (ICM) each STEP-Applicant has to be an ELSA-Member. You confirm to having filled-in the application correctly.
If you have any special language or legal skills you will be asked to hand in all necesary certificates and attestastions.

How does the application work?

The procedure of apllication in detail:
You will just have to fill in the   and hand it in to your local STEPer in due time - due time in this contect means that ELSA International has received your application. The SAF you will either find on our websites or will be available from your local STEPer. He also will ask for certain ceritificates or attestations in order to check the accuracy of your statements within the SAF. In there you are given the chance to apply for up to three traineeship at once.
This is followed up by the so-called "matching-process". At this stage of process your application will be compared with all others handed in by other students. More or less close after the deadline of application you will receive a mail disclosing whether you have been handed through to the potential employer. If you are not matching best or good enough with the desired traineeship, it is still tried to find a suitable traineeship within the other offered traineeships. But you will be informed about this beforehand.

Which costs will rise up?

Taking part in the STEP programme does not cost you a penny. It is totally for free. Only your costs for travelling and accomodation have to be paid by yourself. In general your traineeship, however, will be paid so that you can cover these costs out of the traineeship itself.
